Orchid - Fighting Male Cancer
136 men are diagnosed every day in the UK with a male specific cancer – prostate, testicular and penile cancer and these figures are only increasing
Orchid is dedicated to improving the lives of all those affected, with our world class research, support service for men and their families as well as our awareness and education programme. We have made great strides but there is still so much that needs to be done.
Our Orchid Nurses are available over the phone, by email and face-to-face to support men and their families to face a variety of possible challenges. They offer a range of free publication covering many aspects of male cancer from diagnosis and treatment to after care. Our Nurses also work closely with health and social care professionals.
EDUCATION AND AWARENESS
Our Education Team raise awareness of male cancer, promoting the signs and symptoms, working closely with health and social care professionals, community groups, universities and companies. In doing so, we are able to deliver tailored education health awareness Roadshows and programmes, thereby ensuring men and women of all ages throughout the UK are well informed.
Our renowned research programme aims to encourage, support and fund research into the causes, prevention and treatment of male cancers. It includes the Orchid Tissue Bank and, clinical research, molecular therapeutics, genetics and research into rare cancers. We also support and encourage talented researchers in their male cancer research career, so that we can continue in our fight and save lives.
Whether you want to challenge yourself, hold an event either at home or at work or help us with a bucket collection, we have everything you need to have fun, while raising vital funds. As a small charity, your help will have a real impact on the work we are able to do.
